If you love being on holiday as much as you love being outdoors, you’re in the right place.
We’ve given the walking holiday a fresh perspective. You’ll get a proper holiday built around what suits you.
Think lakeside towns where you wander along the promenade before dinner. Picture-perfect villages where everything is within easy reach. A morning stroll with a view (and a café stop to keep your energy up, of course). These aren’t places you power through – they’re places where you potter, explore and put your feet up between leisurely strolls.
We’ve handpicked over 75 resorts across eight European countries for their gorgeous scenery, varied culture and tasty food – as much as the walking.
Because when you’re on holiday, it’s often the smaller moments that stay with you. A quiet bakery tucked down a side street. A sun-warmed bench in an Italian piazza. Church bells echoing across a mountain valley. These are the details that turn a trip into something memorable.
You won’t experience that from behind a coach window. To really get to know a place, you need time to wander, to pause, and to follow whatever catches your eye. Maybe you have a rough idea of where you want to go or what you want to see – but with so much to research, plan, book… it can be hard knowing where to start.
That’s where we come in.
In-the-know so you don’t have to be

With over 90 years of experience, we take care of flights, transfers and all the details that make travel feel easy. So instead of planning, you can focus on what’s important: making the most of your Inghams holiday.
Our Destination Experts are on hand, either in person or a local telephone call away. They’ll tell you where they go for the best coffee, some quirky independent shops and the perfect place for a drink to suit just the mood you’re in. They can also help with walking routes, viewpoints, restaurant recommendations or a handy insight that only locals know. It’s this kind of local knowledge that turns a good holiday into an unforgettable one.
Our customers always tell us how much they value our Destination Experts, because their advice often leads to an experience that might otherwise have been missed. Think of it like having your own personal tour guide.
And with so much to explore, no two days ever feel quite the same – and that’s the beauty of it.
Another day, another discovery
Across Europe, there’s no shortage of places to explore, but Italy, Austria and Switzerland are among the showstoppers. In Italy, beautiful cultures surround you, from ancient Roman amphitheatres to Renaissance art and centuries-old towns. Tuscany alone has seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites and plenty of castles, some of which now produce their own wine. History never tasted so good.

In Austria, wander through towns peppered with baroque churches, bustling village markets selling local cheese and alpine cattle drives that have been part of life for generations.
Switzerland is just as charming. Lucerne’s old town dazzles with a medieval bridge, fresco-adorned houses and a 17th century church. Then there are impressive mountain peaks – like the Jungfraujoch – which are accessible by cog railway. Imagine the experience, let alone the views! Switzerland is as picturesque as it is practical: think glass-roofed trains, mountain railways and vintage paddle steamers carrying you from one view to the next.
And that’s just the beginning. You also have Andorra, France, Madeira, Slovenia and Norway to consider. Wherever you choose, no two days will feel the same – each discovery adds to the story of your day. Before you know it, you’ve collected a handful of unique moments that will stay with you long after the day is done.
When one destination isn’t enough

Looking for a mix of city and countryside? Hustle and bustle as much as rest and relaxation? Our multi-centre holidays make it easy to experience more in one trip.
Start with a few days in a city like Florence, Vienna or Salzburg, taking your time to explore historic streets, visit galleries and enjoy the local food scene. Then move on to a more relaxed, natural setting, where the pace slows and days are spent soaking up the scenery. So you don’t have to choose – you can get both!
With travel, transfers and accommodation all included, it’s nice and easy from one place to the next. No planning, no juggling – just time to enjoy each place.
See more with someone who knows the most

Want to explore further? That’s where our guided walks step in. Led by knowledgeable local guides, they bring each place to life with stories, insights and a few hidden details you might have otherwise overlooked.
That looks like someone telling you which alpine flowers you’re looking at. The story behind that tiny chapel. The cafe that somehow does the best espresso for miles.
And in many destinations, you can join up to two guided walks during your stay, all included in the holiday price. These guided walks are completely optional, where you’ll join a small group and head out with a professional walking guide to explore some of their favourite trails.
With someone else handling the route, you’re free to simply follow along, get to know the area and enjoy the experience. Then, it’s back to you: how will you spend the rest of your day? Nature-filled vistas from the terrace? A plaza-side Aperol spritz? You get the picture.
A walking holiday, but better
At its heart, it’s walking, yes. But it’s also quality food, local culture, relaxed afternoons and that unmistakable holiday feeling – all in a place that’s easy to explore on foot. Exactly as your holiday should be.
