A visit to London is always worth considering for a short break away. If you fancy checking out the sights, doing a spot of shopping, visiting some of the many attractions or catching a West End Show or Movie – then there’s a great hotel in town!
I recently stayed at the Hilton London Metropole for a weekend break and I thought this was a fantastic hotel. Situated in the heart of London just a 10 minute walk to Marble Arch and Oxford Street. The hotel has over a thousand stylish air conditioned rooms, including deluxe rooms, suites and apartments and 40 conference and meeting rooms. There’s an abundance of space and the public lounge and bar areas are very relaxing and welcoming. Situated in Edgware Road opposite the tube station, attractions like Hyde Park, Madame Tussaurds and the Planetarium are within easy reach. My room was called a Hilton Superior Room – on the 13th floor of the West Wing the floor to ceiling windows gave me a breathtaking view of the capital city!
Rooms to suit
The Hilton Metropole has a choice of upscale guest rooms to suit your budget, all offering elegant and comfortable accommodation. Rooms are contemporary and decorated in rich, warm tones with a host of the normal amenities you would expect from Hilton. Superior rooms come with extra space and if you upgrade to an Executive Room there’s the added benefit of access to the Executive Lounge on the second floor, which includes complimentary refreshments and continental breakfast.
The hotel facilities
The hotel is ‘overflowing’ with guest facilities to help you make the most of your stay. The Livingwell Health Club has a fully equipped gym, and after your workout you can finish with a few lengths of the 12.5m heated indoor pool or soothe tired muscles in the sauna and steam rooms. The Contrasti Hair Salon offers a wide choice of hair and beauty treatments and is set adjacent to the hotel on Praed Street.
For business events the Hilton London Metropole is one of Europe’s largest hotel and conference centres with the space and flexibility to hold meetings and events of any size. Whether it’s a small business meeting or a large sales conference all requirements are under one roof and there’s even a dedicated event check-in reception. Call the conference team for more information.
Food & drink
There’s a wide choice of bars and restaurants here … from the Sports Bar, where you can watch live sporting events on the large plasma screens, enjoy a burger, home made pizza and appetisers combined with premium beers and cocktails … to the Lounge Bar, with its relaxed atmosphere and easy chairs. Here you can meet with friends for a morning coffee, enjoy a lunchtime snack or refreshing cocktail. High speed internet access is also available.
Fiamma restaurant
Fiamma is an inviting, family friendly restaurant and the bright contemporary colours provide a modern and relaxed dining experience. I had dinner here and found the quality of the food outstanding and the service by the restaurant team was first class. There was a wide range of starters to choose from and the menu was complemented by a wide range of wines. For main course I chose Chef’s Special for the evening – Sea Bass. Cooked to perfection and wonderfully presented by Chef Surender, this was a main course to savour. For dessert Chef’s recommendation was a salt and caramel sundae, a perfect follow-up to the main course. Fiamma’s is a great dining experience which I would definitely recommend!
Minako at the Met
This is where you can enjoy fabulous views and intimate surroundings at one of the highest restaurants in London. The elegant, modern design of the restaurant is enhanced by the floor to ceiling glass walls. A new Asian Fusion menu has been launched, pulling away from the typical Pan Asian cuisine and exploring a more creative approach in the preparation and also the presentation. Head Chef, Simon Volante, has a diverse culinary background having worked in both the UK and across the US, from Washington D.C. to Beverly Hills.
Christmas market banqueting package
This year the Hilton London Metropole are inviting guests to celebrate Christmas with a rustic twist, with its festive Market Banqueting package. The hotel is offering largescale banqueting with a unique medieval influence. Guests can dine in style with a colourful and eclectic buffet in the layout of a traditional Christmas market – wooden carts, chalkboards, crates and all. There’s more information on the hotel website or contact the hotel direct.
Conclusion
The Hilton London Metropole hotel is comfortable, relaxing, has excellent facilities and is in a perfect location.
The brochure said … ‘have a great stay’ … I certainly did!
