  1. We didn’t do much this year in the UK due to bereavements and the good old weather. Recently had a few days in Torquay with a long walk to Paignton. Fuerteventura a couple of times and will be there for Christmas and New Year. Lanzarote for our 40th wedding anniversary. Looking for inspiration for my 60th in March next year!

  2. The best holiday I had in 2024 was on an 8 day river cruise that I was lucky enough to win.
It was the most wonderful experience, especially never having been on a cruise of any kind before. We went through medieval Germany and the sights were amazing. Germany was actually nothing at all like I expected it to be. In fact we enjoyed it so much that we have booked an ocean cruise for next year as I couldn’t wait until I had won another one lol

  3. Best Holiday this year (2024) was 5 days in Vienna. Glorious sun every day, luckily missing all that European wet weather before and after. Also got to go to Salzburg by train 1 day, luckily one of the days of festival in the old town. Did most things, but would go back again in a heartbeat.

  4. Best holiday this year was a simple cottage break, with stunning countryside views in the Lake District.

  5. I had a wonderful time in Taiwan in April, I did experience some earthquake after-shocks, which were an interesting experience, as well as visiting super and colourful places with very welcoming people, thank you.

  6. Best holiday this year was on the queen Elizabeth to Norway the views are spectacular went on an excursion and see the reindeer they had really big antlers then on to see some wolves who were captive but they had alot of space then we see some wild cats and when we were back on the cruise ship later in the week we saw the northern lights it was a holiday I will never forget

  7. For 2 consecutive years we have gone on a train holiday from home .We live in the North of England & travelled to London ,where we stayed overnight. We travelled on Eurostar & T.G.V. to Spain. We stayed in the beautiful 4* Meditteraneo Park in Roses which provided wonderful food. Each day we went on interesting train trips in Catalonia & the Pyranees. Roses is a quiet seaside resort in Northern Spain.

  8. Best holiday of 2024 was a trip to Sicily to celebrate my partner’s 60th. We drove from Palermo down the west coast & round the south for the first 10 days on our own, before being joined by his 3 sisters for the last week in a villa on the south coast

  9. I had the most wonderful holiday in Canada followed by a cruise in Alaska. I decided that at the age of 80 I had to finally start to work through my bucket list! I went with Titan and had a really great start being picked up in a brand new chauffeur driven car. I travelled on my own but soon made friends with the other passengers. There were so many memorable moments but for me the highlight was seeing a mother bear and her two cubs ambling along the roadside seemingly completely unafraid of the traffic.
I now have to save up for my next bucket list holiday – it may have to be a bit closer to home!

  10. My best holiday this year has to be to celebrate my 70th birthday. We rented a house in Saundersfoot in South Wales and our boys and their families came and joined us. We had the most amazing time exploring coast line that none of us knew. We can’t get insurance for overseas holidays at present but we are having such a good time exploring the wealth of history, countryside and architecture of our own country.

  11. My favourite holiday this year was a yacht cruise in Croatia. It was so relaxing. We visited lots of different islands, where we had the opportunity to sample the local cuisine; we swam in beautiful, secluded bays and enjoyed the company of our fellow travellers. It was so goid, we’ve booked to go again best year!

  12. We’ve just had an excellent and informative holiday in Egypt. We started in Cairo and Giza with the pyramids. Then on to Alexandria to the crypts and lighthouse, visiting El Alamein and a coptic Christian monastery on the way back to Cairo.
Down to Luxor and cruised the Nile, taking in the many temples and burial chambers on the way. It really was a holiday of a lifetime!

  13. We travelled around South Wales in our caravan and it was just so beautiful and peaceful. The beaches on the Gower Penisula really soothe the soul and make you feel so lucky to have the freedom to enjoy these sights.

  14. Enjoyed 2 weeks in Tenerife in November with hot sunny days, good coastal walks, exploring Teide National Park, and excellent food.

  15. My favourite break this year was with my younger son. We drove to catch ferry at Southampton to the Isle of Wight. It was a surprise visit for older son’s 60th Birthday. The look on the latter’s face when we appeared was priceless. Everybody had a wonderful time in a lovely hotel.

  16. Goa in January left me disappointed. My first trip to India but then Rajasthan, February/March fulfilled all my dreams of that continent. Colours, smells, sounds, tastes sent my senses buzzing. The Golden Triangle is truly a Golden travel experience. The Taj Mahal on my birthday, at sunset, had me in tears. I returned the next morning for sunrise. Tagging on another four days in that crazy land was not a disappointment as I did see tigers. An amazing journey, an amazing experience. Love India.

  17. We had a super relaxing time in January in Antigua. The Pineapple Beach Club was informal and just the right size for us and we loved being able to walk along the beach in the waves.

  18. My wife and ticked off one our bucket list places when we visited the Azores for the first time this year. We only went to the main island of Sao Miguel but will return to explore the other islands in the group as soon as we can.
Sao Miguel is a wonderful island to explore, especially if you like nature and a slower pace of life which made hiring a car and exploring the whole island easy and relaxing. The island is full of fascinating facts and history, the weather when we visited in June was ideal where we could choose between going to the beach or exploring. The food we tasted was fantastic, I tried my first Tuna Takaki which was the freshest tuna I’ve ever tasted. I could go on but I think you’ve got the idea.

  19. No big holidays due to health problems this year but did some lovely day trips, one to Troon and one to Millport, just relaxing days sitting near the beach, eating a nice lunch and walking around the cathedral and woods in Millport.

  20. My best holiday in 2024 was a road trip with my wife through France and into Spain to visit and stay with a friend in Galicia, Northern Spain. Great food, wine and scenery.

  21. I had a wonderful week with a friend exploring the delightful Isle of Man. Delightful and so easy. Flew from Bristol and stayed for a week in Douglas

  22. I had a wonderful week with a friend exploring the delightful Isle of Man. Delightful and so easy. Flew from Bristol and stayed for a week in Douglas

  23. I had a wonderful week with a friend exploring the delightful Isle of Man. Delightful and so easy. Flew from Bristol and stayed for a week in Douglas

  24. A wonderful week with the family at Nikiana Beach Club in Lefkada. Small and friendly, right on the beach, the club has everything a novice or experienced sailor could want from dinghies and catamarans to kayaks, wind surfing boards and stand up paddle boards, as well as a team of friendly instructors always on hand.

  25. Best for 2024? Hmm, that’s tough because we had a wonderful time with the older children in Cairo in September and an equally lovely time with the grandchildren in Florida last month. Since I caught a bad head cold on the November trip, I think I’ll opt for the time in Cairo. 😉

  26. My best holiday was a 12 night Round Britain Cruise in September on Queen Mary 2. My friend and I really enjoyed it, despite the usual British weather! I took a sun hat and a woolly hat and wore both! 13 days of great food, beds made, entertainment whenever we wanted it – and plenty of time to do absolutely nothing if that’s what we felt like!

  27. Our holiday this year to the Lake District—such a magical place! The views from the top of Catbells Mountain were absolutely stunning, and the tranquil lakes, like Derwentwater, Windermere, and Borrowdale, are as beautiful as ever. A real highlight was visiting the historic Alendale House, a National Trust gem. It was so special to return after 47 years, especially since we first visited on our honeymoon. Can’t wait to go back to this breathtaking part of the world again!

  28. We had a trip booked to Brussels but I had to drop out due to an op. Wife took her sister and think she had a better time without me!

  29. My best holidays this year have been in Benidorm – something for everyone there of all ages and solo travellers!

  30. An Interrail trip is always flexible. We were heading for Portugal in February but the weather changed for the worse there. So we turned left instead of right and had a warm and sunny stay in Benidorm followed by the same weather in Marseilles. We always book hotels once we board the train each time to maintain this flexibility.

  31. Been threatening to go away Christmas / New Year for years, since daughter left home. Last year we did just that, two weeks in Lanzarote, fabulous. Hopefully Gran Canaria will deliver the same this year.

  32. I booked Japan Revealed with Just You last year at Destinations at the Silver Travel stand. Window seats were booked by you and I had to wait 14 months till one of the best holidays that I have been on. Loved it, food so different to what I was used to and the Bullet Train or Shinkansen was brilliant.

  33. Had an excellent trip to Madeira and Porto Santo staying in two hotels in Madeira and one in Porto Santo. Had visited Madeira before but not stayed in the north of the island. The sheer cliffs were a surprise. The coastline is stunning.

  34. Went to Lille for my birthday, a beautiful french town thats not so touristy but has a good amount to offer.

We stayed in an Airbnb place so fel t very local, and it was great. Breakfasting at local boulangerie and just loving the vibe

  35. We went to Cape Verde in February, for some winter sunshine. We stayed on Boa Vista and the weather was lovely – it was windy, but we were glad of that to cool the temperature a little. We had a lovely time BUT the island has no culture to speak of and we were pretty much confined to the hotel. If you want a ‘fly and flop’ winter sunshine I cannot recommend it highly enough, but for me I like to get a little more involved with the local community

  36. Morocco was a super place to visit using the trains where possible. Food great and lovely people made it a very memorable trip.

  37. I went to Cork in Ireland with cousins,a family reunion. The food in all the restaurants was fabulous and the English market is something else. Shame we can’t bring food back. My other bookedholidaywas a tour of Andalucia that unfortunately I had to cancel as my little dog was ill, thankfully she is o the mend now.

  38. I had a great time in Dalyan, Turkey with a group of friends. Very relaxing, a couple of boat trips, a few excursions, lots of laughs and good food.

I also visited a cousin in Torquay who I hadn’t seen for five years.

  39. My best holiday this year has to be New York, we stayed 5 nights in a top hotel. Did a musical on Broadway and watched the Rocky Horror film at a rooftop theatre. Best experience was Ellie’s diner on Broadway and listening to all the serving staff bursting into song.

  40. My best holiday was going to Poole Harbour in Dorset – we took the Osprey Cruise and saw Eagles as well as Ospreys, it was magical.

    1. Best holiday was a day trip to Paris on Eurostar! We caught the 6am train there and returned just before midnight and packed in a full day’s sightseeing, wining and dining, and did some shopping too.

  41. We had a lovely fortnight in Los Gigantes, Tenerife in November (warning – it’s extremely hilly, difficult walking for people with dicky knees like me!). The weather was glorious, up to 29 degrees, the pool was lovely and warm, and the food was delicious. Unfortunately we had to come home and 2 days later had 4 inches of snow! Talk about coming down to earth with a bump!

  42. My best and only holiday in 2024 since my husband died in 2022, was on a 5 day coach trip to Exmouth with a friend. So nice to be looked after, visit places and go on river cruises having everything arranged for you!

  43. We drove to Bordeaux, stopping off on the way down and back in Paris. My very first time to the French capital. Did most of the tourist hot stops, although ran out of time for actually going into the Louver. The Mona Lisa will have to wait!

  44. Visited Vietnam this summer on an Intrepid tour. Had a great time, friendly people, excellent food and stunning surroundings. Highly recommend.

  45. To celebrate a special milestone birthday I booked a cruise. It was P&O 30 day on Arcadia from Southampton to Canada and America and back .Fall colours ,amazing scenery and overnight stops made it very enjoyable.

  46. Missed out on a holiday this year, But would love to return to Madeira, where we spent a magical Christmas a couple of years ago.

  47. Our trip with to Puglia in June was amazing. The weather was warm and sunny. The food was fab. Visiting Matera and the trulli houses in Alberobello were the highlights of our holiday.

  48. lucky to have travelled Route 66 twice, once on an Indian Motorcycle and once on a Harley, would love to travel again but taking more time, so much to see and take in.

  49. I would like to say we have had a wonderful time somewhere but the health of my husband has not been too good…. so I have had a back garden safari

  50. Best holiday this year was walking the Offa’s Dyke Way over the Black Mountains – wonderful views, and exhilarating walk along the ridge.

  51. I have been around the world a few times, but never have I seen or been in touch with such lovely people as those I met in Tunisia. Do pick your hotel well, though. There are some excellent ones(some not so good), Movenpick Suisse and L’Orange Garden Hammermat (the main hotel). Tunisia is a fascinating country, very very cheap, similar in culture to Morocco.

  52. November in Derbyshire, best because we caught gorgeous autumn weather and just missed the snow and cold by one day!

  53. Best holiday was visiting Mexico to meet my new grandson who lives there with his parents – we did very little other than coo over the new arrival!

  54. My best holiday this year was a tour involving Holland, the area of the Rhine in Germany, Luxembourg and then back through Holland.

  55. Best holiday this year was a cruise to the Adriatic. We called at Split Dubrovnik and Kotar and it was so beautiful.

  56. Bucket List holiday to Tokyo & cruise around Japan. Loved learning about the history & culture; even though the excursions involved lots of walking between temples, shrines, gardens & museums.

  57. My best holiday was walking bits of the Norfolk coastal path which is very beautiful and easily accessible. I do not have a car and used public transport.
