SiIversea welcomes Silver Origin to the fleet in the Galapagos

Silversea has officially welcomed Silver Origin to their family with an expedition-inspired christening ceremony in the Galapagos! Guests took to the water on Silver Origin’s Zodiacs, toasting the ship with a glass of champagne before Johanna Carrión, esteemed conservationist and permanent resident of the Galapagos Islands, was named the ship’s Godmother.

With just 100 passengers, Silver Origin is the smallest ship in Silversea’s fleet and purpose-built for sailing the Galapagos. Floor to ceiling windows, Horizon Balconies and interactive basecamp make her truly the only option when it comes to exploring the Galapagos in ultra-luxury.

Silver Origin’s environmentally-conscious credentials include dynamic positioning. This enables the ship to maintain its position without dropping its anchor, thus protecting the archipelago’s delicate seabed. She will also be plastic free – guests will be gifted a metallic reusable bottle – and reverse osmosis (whereby sea water is turned into drinking water) refilling stations will save at least 17,000 plastic bottles.
