Music and Innovation that Changed the World
Detroit has re-generated to regain its place as one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in the United States. Celebrating its automotive heritage, the Motor City has embraced the past and houses the Motor Cities National Heritage Area. This area builds on the story of how the southeast, Michigan and Detroit put the world on wheels.
The city is the home to the world-famous Henry Ford Museum, of American Innovation. America’s “Greatest History Attraction”, and a thriving arts and culinary scene. It is also the home to Hitsville USA the birthplace of Motown and the original studio complex is now a fantastic museum. This is not the only musical innovation the City relates to, Techno or more accurately, Detroit Techno was born out of Electro, Industrial and Chicago House music in the 1980’s right in the heart of Detroit.
Lakes that Feel Like Oceans
The Great Lakes region accounts for more than 20% of the worlds surface freshwater, and Michigan’s iconic shape is framed by four of them, Superior, Huron, Eire and Michigan, this means that Michigan has more freshwater coastline than any U.S. state. The natural beauty of the region is preserved in the State and National Parks, among those, Sleeping Dunes National Lakeshore with its outstanding natural features, which include astonishing 35 miles of wind sculptured sand dunes and glacial formations, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, close to the town of Munising with its own amazing dunes and multi coloured sandstone cliffs and Isle Royale a designated international biosphere.
