October 2024 – The Bucket List: 1000 Adventures Big & Small

We’ll explore a different destination for each Book Club, and a lucky Silver Travel Book Club reader can win a free copy of that month’s book.

This month, the Silver Travel Book Club is embarking on an exciting journey with The Bucket List: 1000 Adventures Big & Small by Kath Stathers, a treasure trove of travel inspiration for passionate explorers. If you’ve ever dreamed of experiencing the wonders of the world—whether it’s natural beauty, cultural richness, or culinary delights—this book offers the perfect blend of endeavours, from the awe-inspiring to the uniquely local.

The Bucket List is an around-the-world, continent-by-continent guide that takes you on a whirlwind tour of beaches, museums, monuments, islands, inns, restaurants, and mountains, offering inspiration for every type of traveller. Picture yourself glassblowing in the Czech Republic, swimming with dolphins in New Zealand, or birdwatching on the savannas of Kenya. Whether it’s driving through the clouds in Sri Lanka or sketching a sunset behind an architectural monument, each adventure is carefully curated to be as location-specific and geographically unique as possible.

For our Silver Traveller community, this book isn’t just about far-flung destinations; it’s about reigniting your sense of adventure and curiosity. Whether you’re checking off iconic natural wonders or savouring intimate, local experiences, The Bucket List inspires you to pursue your travel dreams, big and small.

  10. I have been a carer for my husband for many years and travelling have been put aside for a while. Sadly, my husband passed away on 13/10/19, and I must now get out of my comfort zone and explore. I am OPEN to visit any country ( although I have a soft spot for magical Iceland /Artic Circle /Alaska ). I am open to any adventure, big or small and would welcome the advice and care of Silver Travel to take me away, anywhere x

  12. I have always wanted to visit the Pampas in Argentina ever since reading about the areas when I was about ten years old and it has always been an ambition of mine.

  13. There are a few for me, firstly to travel up through Scotland to the islands, Hebrides and Outer Hebrides etc.
Second would love to trip through the noweigian fjords and explore that entire region
Third would be to explore the Austrian Lake Disctrict, it looks absolutely stunning

  14. Early retirement has meant I’ve ticked lots of places off, but I’d still like to go to Mozambique – there is a revitalised wildlife scene, interesting towns to explore and lots of secluded palm fringed beaches for relaxing.

  15. I would love to spend time in the Outer Hebrides. Beautiful scenery, wildlife and get to meet local inhabitants. Would love to do it in comfort on a boat
