October 2024 – The Bucket List: 1000 Adventures Big & Small

We’ll explore a different destination for each Book Club, and a lucky Silver Travel Book Club reader can win a free copy of that month’s book.

This month, the Silver Travel Book Club is embarking on an exciting journey with The Bucket List: 1000 Adventures Big & Small by Kath Stathers, a treasure trove of travel inspiration for passionate explorers. If you’ve ever dreamed of experiencing the wonders of the world—whether it’s natural beauty, cultural richness, or culinary delights—this book offers the perfect blend of endeavours, from the awe-inspiring to the uniquely local.

The Bucket List is an around-the-world, continent-by-continent guide that takes you on a whirlwind tour of beaches, museums, monuments, islands, inns, restaurants, and mountains, offering inspiration for every type of traveller. Picture yourself glassblowing in the Czech Republic, swimming with dolphins in New Zealand, or birdwatching on the savannas of Kenya. Whether it’s driving through the clouds in Sri Lanka or sketching a sunset behind an architectural monument, each adventure is carefully curated to be as location-specific and geographically unique as possible.

For our Silver Traveller community, this book isn’t just about far-flung destinations; it’s about reigniting your sense of adventure and curiosity. Whether you’re checking off iconic natural wonders or savouring intimate, local experiences, The Bucket List inspires you to pursue your travel dreams, big and small.

It looks wonderfully bucolic, the farmers still using horses and carts, the food simple and wildlife in abundance. I wanted to go a few years ago but the pandemic got in the way so I’d love to experience this rural idyll befoe it’s too late.

  3. After this trip it is time to revise our bucket list. I really feel this book could open our eys to more adventures.
