Travelodge, Pegler Way, Crawley
This is a very short review as I didn’t take any photos, we had no time for breakfast and had already eaten before we arrived there in the evening – basically all we did was sleep for a few hours, make a cup of tea, shower, get dressed and leave for the airport. We’d only decided earlier in the day to book a room, my husband fearing that we would be late for our flight the next morning due to ongoing problems on the M25 at weekends. We were booked in to leave our car at Purple Parking in Horley so we didn’t need a hotel that included parking for the duration of the holiday, only overnight.
We found the Travelodge really easily – it’s right in the centre of Crawley near shops and cafes – and it has its own dedicated parking area at the hotel end of a well signed large covered car park off the A2219. We just had to trundle our cases down a ramp, along the pavement and into the door of the large, glass fronted hotel. The reception/bar/cafe area is spacious and the staff were very welcoming. They asked if we would like any food or drinks and if we wanted to book breakfast but we’d already eaten and were leaving too early to have breakfast there in the morning. There was a good choice of light bites on offer and afterwards I wished I’d thought to ask for a hot chocolate. The nearby lift took us up to our room level and we were pleased that the room was clean, well decorated and had everything we needed for our short stay, a typical layout with a kingsize bed, towels, chair, kettle, mugs, tea/coffee etc. and bathroom. The temperature was ideal for me; I’m often too hot in hotel rooms, duvet too thick, air con not working or too noisy, but here everything was just right.
Based on our limited time spent in the hotel I would recommend this Travelodge. In the morning it took us about 6 minutes to drive to Purple Parking so we’d certainly consider staying in this hotel in future as it removed the stress of a night-time drive with the fear of unexpected accidents or road closures. The room was good value at £49 for a Friday night booked that day.
