I met my cousin for lunch on 6th December. There is a lift up to the restaurant for my cousin who can not negotiate the stairs to reception. The tables were well separated. Even though there was a party in for lunch, service was efficient and friendly. They took care of the fact that I have a food intolerance. The set price Christmas menu was available with four choices for starter, main and sweet courses There is also a general and a light bite menu.
The salmon wellington on the Christmas menu was very generous. The fish pie was delicious and well filled with plenty of fish and just the right amount of sauce. The goat cheese tart starter was the biggest I have seen and the spicy tomato soup both left clean plates.
A lovely lunch, and well worth the hour travel to get there. It is situated right on the canal side, convenient for a stroll to walk off the lunch.
