My sister and I took in The Art of Banksy Without Limits exhibit in London, Ontario a couple of months ago. It has proven to be so popular it has been extended for another month. I wasn’t sure what to expect but was impressed with the amount of information in the exhibit.
One element is a timeline of Banksy’s work. I hadn’t realized just how long his graffiti has been around – since the early 1990s. I had heard about some of his most infamous stunts, such as the painting that shredded itself right after it was sold at Sotheby’s but I had not realized he had visited the Ukraine or that he purchased and funded the M. V. Louise Michel rescue boat for refugees in the Mediterranean. I also didn’t know that the Ukraine had made postage stamps of his graffiti in their war-torn cities. Whatever your views of his work, it is certainly thought provoking.
Each ticket is timed entry but there was no one asking you to leave after your hour was up. There are concessions for seniors and students. Seniors were $36.16 including fees. I know this isn’t the only city where his exhibit is being shown so if you get the chance, I’d certainly recommend it.
