We picked out this hotel for an overnight stop on our journey back from Scotland to Devon, mainly because of its proximity to the M6 and to Sizergh Castle, which we wanted to visit. It is also close to the centre of Kendal and handily situated for visiting other attractions in the Lake District.
We were, however, a little disappointed in the quality of our room, which was rather small and where the decor looked tired and the furniture was showing signs of ageing. It was certainly not uncomfortable, however, and served its purpose of providing a base for an overnight stay.
We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and found the quality of meals to be good, if nothing too special. We had no complaints, however, as the food was quite adequate for what we needed for our stop-over.
All-in-all, it was quite reasonable but could be improved with a little tlc.
