We arrived at the Victoria Ankor Resort & Spa December 2015 by personal escort and were greeted with a cool drink and cool cloth to freshen up as we regisitered in the well maintained colonial hotel. Our room was very comfortable and the self service breakfast outstanding. Our personal escort took us via aircondition car to varies temples, he was very knowledgeable and made our excursions interesting. We did go out alone to Pub Street to sample local food and chose a Cambodian Barbeque Restuarant were we cooked our own meal on a tabletop barbeqcue, which inculded crocodile, kangaroo, chicken and fish with a well of vegetables. Our coach journey to the Mekong River was very pleasent and interesting passing through the countryside seeing Paddy Fields and local villages. We were greeted at the Pandaw RV river boat by friendly staff who provided us with slippers, took our shoes to be cleaned, a cool drink and cold cloth on arrival, then showed us to our beautiful Cabin room with en suite. I was a little concerned about how I would cope due to mobility issues, as I have Fibro Myalgia, but the staff where very helpful and assisted me on and off the boat when necessary, there also was no pressure on going on all of the excursions, if you felt like a restful day on the sundeck that was fine and the bar staff more than happy to tend to your cocktail needs. Each day we sailed to different areas on the Mekong River and enjoyed two excursions, some in the evening, where we met local villagers and experience daily life on the river. One of our tours was to The Killing Fields, which was very emotional and perhpas not for everyone, but brought reality to how cruel the human race can be! On board the Pandaw we were treated to breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant to beautifully prepared and varied meals from Cambodia and Vietnam, there was also a choice of European food. There also were entertainments of films on the history of Cambodia, local dancers, musicians and mime artists Our holiday ended with two night in Ho Chi Minh City (Siagon) in the Sofitel Plaza where we upgraded to excutive suite and well worth the money. We hired a personal guide to show us around the city, visiting musems and temples and other interresting buildings. We went to the local market, which was huge and extrememly interesting and bought a pair of shoes from an old lady who made them to fit whilst we waited. Our holiday in Cambodia and Vietnam with the Mekong River Crusie was one of a life time that we will never forget and would recommend to people from 35 years old upwards looking to experience local culture and flavours in a luxurious fashion.
