An Annual event on the 1st May (whichever day this occurs) is to dance up the sun at 5am down by Southsea Seafront. I go along as partner to one of the Morrismen to watch the spectacle. The weather was kind this year (we have had some years that were horrible, cold wet and blowing). The lads have a barrel of beer to sustain them and at 6.30am we trot along to a local pub “The Pembroke” who are wonderful and make us all (maybe 40 odd) breakfast. At 9.30 a coach has been organized to take us on a Mystery trip to various pubs in Hampshire where they dance and sing and a lunch has been arranged in the middle of the day.
The last stop is a local Brewery, then a dance on Portsmouth point and back to the Pembroke to sing until probably about 9pm, then home to collapse!
What a Day! Look out for 2027.
