We have stayed in Edinburgh a number of times and enjoy exploring different areas. Leith Shore waterfront is a great district for cultural attractions, independent shops and dining. It is part of Ediburgh’s historic dock area and in 18th century was the main gateway for global trade and very busy with ships sailing in and out.
We dined at the King’s Wark – essentially because my partner enjoys a pint from a selection of real cask ales. The menu was composed of traditional and modern dishes. The building itself is steeped in history and dates back to the 15th century. It started life as an arsenal where the cannon used on royal ships were kept and maintained. Throughout the ages royalty and gentry stayed in the hotel.
What was surprising about this neighbourhood was the relaxed atmosphere in the evening. It is well worth visiting during your stay in Edinburgh.
