I don’t usually reach for a doughnut as a sweet as I find them often too, well, sweet. However, after trying one at “Lady Glaze”:https://ladyglazedoughnuts.com/, a new doughnut shop and café in Stratford, Ontario, I’ll definitely be going back to try some more. They are a cake type doughnut and use all natural flavours and ingredients.
I had a lovely cherry and almond doughnut that was delicious. It wasn’t sweet and the glaze had a great cherry flavour. The crunch of the chopped almonds on top was a nice addition of texture. My sister tried the strawberry and lime and enjoyed hers too but found the slice of candied lime oddly sweet. The doughnuts are on the pricey side from between $3 and $5 each but one is enough and if you get one of the filled doughnuts, it could be a meal. As we were eating ours on the go during a walk, we opted not to try a filled one but will be doing so once we can get back into dine-in eating. We also got cold drinks to enjoy on our walk – again, all natural ingredients. Mine was a lime and blackberry mix and my sister had a coconut concoction. They also sell cider and wine so a stop in can top off a decadent meal or be an indulgent snack. They also have vegan and gluten free options.
They are open from 8:00 am until 9:00 pm or until they are sold out of the day’s baking. The storefront faces the large parking lot on Erie Street so parking is very convenient. They also have shops in Guelph and Kitchener.
