Reasons for trip

A great place for comfort food, Jamie’s Italian is located in the Assembly Rooms just off Princes Street in Edinburgh. First impressions were that it is very large and extremely red but after a few minutes inside you will adjust and realise that this is a restaurant that is definitely on trend. Full of youngsters it was really buzzing by 8.00pm in the evening. Prices were reasonable and the staff are young and friendly .Service was quick and the menu had a wide range of Italian style dishes. I asked if Jamie Oliver had any input and was informed that he has been along several times since it opened which was just a short while ago. I enjoyed a tasty lasagne and my partner picked one of their specials sea bass. This came with a warm salad and roast peppers. Portions sizes were fine but dishes come as stated and so you might want to order some sides to go with them. There is a extensive wine list and you get a good sized glass at a reasonable price. There is a very lively feel about the restaurant and the international staff work hard to make you feel welcome. The desserts have an Italian slant and the ice creams are very good. .

It has lots of atmosphere and is a great place to eat particularly if you are in a group. It is popular with the younger crowd and in a very good location.
