The 5 *Cliff Bay Hotel in Funchal surpassed my expectations. We had a standard sea view room which was spacious with a bath and shower in the en suite. The views were spectacular and our terrace was a great place to enjoy them. Staff are exceptional and cannot do enough to make your stay memorable. We enjoyed an extensive breakfast buffet each morning and chose to eat in the Rose Garden Restaurant on two occasions. There is also a Michelin starred restaurant in the hotel but we didn’t try it this time. The hotel is situated a 20-minute walk into the centre of Funchal. Fine going down but pretty steep getting back! There are plenty of taxis and buses if needed. Personally, I can’t wait to go back!
