Perfection is difficult to achieve, but this little gem that is hidden off the beaten track comes close. Very close.
We were introduced to this place on Mother’s Day in 2013, where we were taken for Lunch.
I remember coming away well satisfied on that occasion.
Since then we have become regular visitors to the meat counter for our carnivorous needs, as this is a Farm Shop as well as a Coffee Shop cum Restaurant.
This week we called in for Breakfast having had an early start from home.
I went for the Full English, which included a perfectly fried egg, bacon, pork sausage, black pudding, baked beans and two slices of toast made from bread baked on the premises. Nothing special about that I can here you say, but it was cooked to perfection.
The owners, the Haswell family have been local farmers and butchers for around 100 years, rearing their own animals and producing and selling their produce to pubs, restaurants, care homes and Hotels all over the local area.
Earlier this year the family extended the Shop and Catering Areas as well as the Car Park, and there is even a large play area for the kids to stop them from becoming bored. Open from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Saturday. 10.00am to 4.00 pm on Sunday.
The staff are very efficient and obliging and there is a host of other interesting and quality merchandise to tempt you.
This place is well worth a visit if you can find it!
