We booked a package holiday with TUI to this resort for some relaxation & winter sun.
Accommodation
Our room was very spacious, on the first floor overlooking the pool area. The room had a very comfortable king sized bed, with lounge area consisting of couch, coffee table and two armchairs. There is a fridge, refilled every other day, TV, kettle & tea/coffee and safe. Free WiFi is available throughout the resort. We also had a decent sized balcony with two chairs and a table. En-suite had a nice shower with two sinks and complimentary soap, shower gel, shampoo and body lotion.
The room (as was the rest of the resort) was kept very clean by the daily maid service.
Food/Drink
The main buffet restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. There is a great selection each day with themes running for dinner most days e.g. Italian
The food is of good quality and overall we enjoyed eating here but there are a few things to watch out for:
– Some food is warm rather than hot
– Freshly cooked food is sometimes piled on top of older food in the warming dishes
– The carving joints (pork, turkey) are over cooked and very dry, probably because they are left under the lights too long (there wasn’t any gravy to help with this)
– TUI states the dress code as long trousers for men, many do not comply with this and there is no enforcement of it.
You can book the Italian & BBQ restaurants once per seven days of your stay…book them as soon as you arrive. We ate at both twice & enjoyed them.
An Asian is available at extra cost, plus people who upgrade to The Level (40 Euros pppd) can access restaurants in the other Melia hotels.
The Pura Vida poolside restaurant/bar also does nice lunches & becomes the BBQ venue at night.
Of the four bars, we enjoyed the Azul best & enjoyed all the drinks, albeit made from local beers and spirits.
Pools
There are two main pools (a third for The Level), both nice with plenty of loungers around. The pool furthest from the beach has, occasional music/activities, whereas the other is quieter but the filter system does makes an annoying sucking sound (which your brain tends to block out after a while). More loungers are available on the beach.
Entertainment
There is some form of entertainment each evening. Outside the resort towards the beach there is a walkway that runs parallel to the coastline, so ideal for a stroll. Beyond the walkway you can continue along the beach in epithet direction. Kite surfing is popular due to the windy conditions but that also makes the sea quite rough.
Summary
Nice, clean and spacious hotel. The all inclusive makes it decent value. The sun shone throughout the two weeks, so objective achieved. Overall the staff are very helpful and the service is good. We’d be happy to stay here again.
