This villa is located in the hills overlooking Lake Trasimeno and is a perfect getaway from the rest of the world. It is a converted farmhouse at the end of a long, rough track – but well worth the drive when you arrive. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and everything matches the high standards set by CV Travel – including the beautiful gardens and pool. We had requested a 'hamper' for our arrival and the owners, Beatrice and Enzo (who did the farmhouse conversion themselves) provided enough well-chosen groceries for a week – which was just as well, since there are no shops within 10 miles! The closest supermarkets are in Mercatale or Umbertide, but if you can tear yourself away from the peaceful poolsie or terrace, you will pass through these small towns on sight-seeing trips to historic places such as Assisi and Cortona. The capital city of Umbria is Perugia, just over an hour's drive away and well worth a visit for its unique history, and around Lake Trasimeno are several picturesque hilltop towns – the best-preserved of these is Panicale. There are ferry services on the lake to visit historic islands such as Isola Maggiore. This was another experience of an excellent villa from CV Travel – and their customer service (including the advice from their local representative) was first-class.
