Reasons for trip

I wrote a “review”:https://www.silvertraveladvisor.com/review/place/146514-review-beverley for Beverley five years ago so this is an update to it, following a day trip with my camera. I ended up with so many pictures, I’ve had to split them into two reviews. This one covers housing and shops.

Beverley Tourist Information Centre in the Treasure House on Champney Road has a very good “leaflet”:https://providerfiles.thedms.co.uk/eandamedia/YS/2297988_1.pdf with a map and different trails around Beverley.

Beverley is an interesting place to walk around and very photogenic with its Georgian brick houses and narrow streets. There are still a few medieval timber frame houses with steeply pitched roofs.

North Barr is the only one of the Medieval gateways into the town to survive and traffic still has to negotiate it’s narrow gateway.

The splendid market cross dominates the market place, and is still the site of the Saturday market. The nearby brick built Corn Exchange is now a cafe.

The centre of Beverley has also managed to retain a lot of small specialist shops, many family run. It is popular with shoppers.
