Travelling further afield, to destinations rarely visited and largely untouched by tourism, is on the ‘life list’ for many of us. So, with expedition cruising offering truly immersive experiences to many remote corners of the world, there’s never been a better time to consider venturing off the beaten track.
And what better way to savour a new era of expedition travel, than combining unique, exhilarating adventures with comfort, luxury and uncompromising personal service. Hailed as one of the world’s finest resorts at sea, Seabourn Venture offers just that. My time onboard may not have taken place in expedition waters (I was staying overnight here in the UK) however the sense of discovery and possibilities were evident in no time.
Seabourn Venture – built for discovery
Expedition cruising is all about discovery. Discovering new destinations, landscapes and sceneries, but also the hidden nooks and crannies, and smaller islands and inlets that are unreachable to most. Seabourn Venture is equipped to make the most remote discovery possible.
The ship itself is built for diverse environments, and is small enough to visit isolated sites that are inaccessible to most bigger ships. But it’s the equipment onboard which really makes for an adventure of discovery.
A suite of 24 zodiacs can accommodate all guests at once and make exploring the waters an exhilarating adventure. Imagine cruising through icebergs of all shapes and sizes in Antarctica or winding along the Amazon River through jungle teaming with wildlife.
If you prefer a more active exploration, a complement of kayaks present an opportunity to paddle your way through the wilderness. And in warmer climes you can explore the underwater world and snorkel or scuba dive amongst unspoilt tropical corals.
But surely the best way to discover the world beneath the ocean’s surface is onboard one of Seabourn Venture’s two custom-built six-seater submarines. Witness breathtaking views on a truly unforgettable journey of surreal subsea realms – a rare experience if there ever was one!
Seabourn Venture – built for comfort
There’s no doubt that an expedition cruise holiday is active, fast-paced and on-the-go! So at the end of a busy day exploring you’ll want to retreat to a home away from home. Seabourn Venture’s suites and common areas are elegant, comfortable and welcoming.
132 luxury ocean-front suites all boast a private veranda for relaxing, wildlife spotting or simply admiring the sublime views. If you fancy sipping a coffee as the sunrises or a cocktail as the sun sets, there’s a fully stocked mini bar catered to your preferences. Tastefully designed with fine furnishings it’s easy to sink into the cosiness of your suite.
However aboard Seabourn Venture there are a number of lounges and social gathering areas to enjoy too. Seabourn Square is a hub of conversation serving coffees, pastries and snacks. Or if you are looking to learn more about your expedition head to the Bow Lounge where computers chart your journey, and an array of books are available to peruse. On deck nine the Constellation Lounge is an all-day venue to meet, relax and share stories with fellow passengers, all while overlooking panoramic views ahead.
The Seabourn expedition all-inclusive difference
From the moment you step onboard Seabourn Venture you enter a world of first-class amenities and sophisticated, understated service. Ultra-all-inclusive covers all elements of your stay. Luxury accommodation, award-winning dining, and a world-class expedition team delivering immersive experiences such as zodiacs, scuba diving and snorkelling.
With seven dining venues onboard, plus 24-hour in suite dining, you’ll never be short of options from a quick snack to a gourmet multi-course meal. The Restaurant offers fine dining with open seating for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I enjoyed a simply delicious goat’s cheese souffle, followed by a perfectly cooked beef wellington, finished off with a chocolate torte – to say I enjoyed every bite is an understatement.
Meanwhile The Colonnade offers a more casual eatery for buffet or table service including menus by Michelin-starred chef Thomas Keller. The buffet was plentiful and catered to a wide variety of tastes from soups and salads to fresh fish and hearty stews. Elsewhere onboard, lighter bites are available at The Patio, or enjoy sushi in The Club or an elegant afternoon tea in the Constellation Lounge.
All dining is complemented by an extensive drinks menu from fine wines paired by onboard sommeliers, hand-crafted cocktails and other beverages and soft drinks. Complimentary beverages are available everywhere onboard, from a mid-morning coffee to an after-dinner nightcap.
