Gleneagles
Website
Set in rolling Perthshire countryside, Gleneagels not only offers golf but also the full range of country pursuits, plus gun-dog scurries for those wanting to see how one of the school’s dogs is put through its paces. The resort also recently launched obedience training for guests’ dogs. You can book a half or whole day at £75 an hour. And after all that hard work, dogs can bed down in the hotel’s luxury kennels, or in your room. The hotel provides a tartan dog bed, water bowl and pooper scooper!

Bedruthan Steps
Website
Bedruthan steps in Cornwall has an open-door pet policy. “We’ve accommodated chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses, budgerigars, tortoises, hamsters, gerbils and lots of well-behaved dogs.”

There is an outside grassed pet area for small animals kept in hutches and runs. Small caged animals and dogs are also welcome in pet-friendly bedrooms.

(Dogs and small indoor pets only stay in certain bedrooms to ensure that the rest of the hotel is kept free of hair and other allergens.)

They also cleverly provide collar tags with the hotel’s address in case your mutt decides to explore alone during your stay!

The Nare
Website
At The Nare on Cornwall’s Roseland Peninsula well-behaved dogs are welcome in the gardens, and in your room. All dogs checking into the hotel are charged and have dinner included from their own Table d’Hôte menu. Most tend to relish Chef’s Dish of the Day although if The Boss insists propriety brands are also available. Those with special dietary requirements and desires may find the Dogs’ à la Carte Menu has a wider choice & Biodegradable dog bags are available in reception. Outdoorsey types and working dogs who don’t need to come into the hotel may instead prefer to stay in the kennels, for which there is no charge if on self-catering terms.
