Please note: this prize draw is now closed.
This month we have a wonderful UK break as our prize: a two night stay, for two people, with breakfast on both mornings and dinner one night, at the 4-star Beech Hill Hotel & Spa in the Lake District.
With an outstanding lakeside location, you’ll be wow’d by the panorama. And also by the fine dining, carefully created by Head Chef Lukasz Zebryk in Burlington’s Restaurant. The elegant ambiance and AA rosettes have made it a serious favourite with locals as well as visitors. Should a visit to the spa be on your list for a relaxing break, the Lakeview Spa with a Himalayan Sauna, an aromatic Steam Room, two outside Vitality Spa Pools and a large indoor pool, should be spot on.
The Beech Hill Hotel & Spa is perfectly located for exploring, walking, boating, even stand up paddleboarding or just browsing the shops, cafés and museums of local towns such as Bowness or Kendal. Our winner will find endless spectacular views close by and many opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of the Lake District National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The hotel is an ideal spot from which visit the famous farming countryside which sweeps across the hillsides in this part of Cumbria. Rugged and untamed, they’ve been home to sheep farmers for generations, including Beatrix Potter who was a prize-winning breeder of Herdwick sheep. Her magical children’s books are based on the wildlife she saw all around her in the Lake District. Hill Top Farm near Sawrey was her home for many years; you can visit for an insight into the life she led.
And if you like discovering all that the National Trust has to offer, the Lake District is awash with gardens, houses, buildings and countryside walks, not to mention the tea shops and restaurants – just the place for hungry visitors.
Our lucky winner will also get a free trip on the Windermere steamer, perfect for seeing the very best of the lake.
Writer Glynis Sullivan had a marvellous time at Beech Hill Hotel & Spa; she thoroughly recommends it!

The Lake District is beautiful and best scenery by far
but after a wet day’s walking relax in Beech Hill’s Spa!
An ideal location to relax and de-stress in , surrounded by natural beauty whilst enveloped in comfort .
To be able to do my favourite activities which are swimming and walking amongst breathtaking scenery
The lockdowns and restrictions of COVID have made me appreciate even more the chance to get out again and see the beauty of the countryside. I haven’t been to the Lakes in years and this looks like a great chance to get out and breathe fresh air [even if it’s a bit damp!]
A road well travelled, without time to stop. As we rush through the stunningly beautiful countryside to our journey’s end. Oh to stop and rest a while to experience the my experience to joys of Cumbria.
We’ve only visited the Lake District once before and it rained all week so much so that we couldn’t even see the hills, so I’d love to return and see the magnificent scenery.
There are lots of comments here about walks in the Lake District (and walks can be very rewarding). However, for those who are less able to manage distances, or are concerned about their carbon footprint in arriving at places of interest, there’s a great bus network available to help you appreciate the spectacular scenery and take you to fascinating places. With a maximum fare of £2 per journey to the end of October (when it becomes £2.50 for anyone without an ENCT) let’s get our “green” hats on!
After living in West Cumbria for 8 years in the 1980’s and many happy memories it would be great to return
Beautiful scenery, plenty of space but watch out for the changeable weather.
Haven’t been to the Lake District for years. Would love to renew visits to places where we went before.
The scenery, the fresh air and the Kendal Mint Cake!
I am usually hill walking when in the Lakes, so a chance to actually relax & take it easy would be wonderful for a change
A wonderful area to walk, especially where there are fewer visirors!
The scenery, the walking and a chance to reset.
The outstanding beauty of the Lake District coupled with the luxury hotel and spa, what’s not to love.
I would love to spend time in this area, it is a walkers paradise.
I would wander lonely as a cloud. Its all the rage up there you know. Spa sounds tickety-boo as well. Here’s hoping.
First introduced to the joys of the Lake District via the remarkable fell walker and author Alfred Wainwright. That was almost 60 years ago. Scafell Pike, Blencathra, Helm Crag, Skiddaw and more, we’ve walked them all, and in all weathers. Not quite as sprightly now, but still love to ‘potter’, with the added bonus of a relaxing spa and fine dining at the end of the day.
The peace, quiet, beauty & great hospitality
Would love to spend time walking in the Lake District and then relaxing at the fantastic facilities Beech Hill Hotel & Spa
What a wonderful prize for someone to win. Stunning scenery in a beautiful location and a spa . Total bliss.

And what better than to have comfy accommodation already arranged by Silver Travel Advisor. No searching or booking hassles.
It’s like having your very own travel concierge.
Now, if only they could do the packing for you, and have the house cleaned while you’re away too…..!
Would love to visit the Lake District again, the last time was over 20 years ago, with 2 small boys in tow! We remember the beautiful scenery and the still waters of the lake, & a peaceful place to relax.
I last visited Windermere as a child (a long time ago). I remember going to Beatrix Potter’s cottage – I loved her stories! As an adult I’m sure there is a lot more to enjoy but it would really be a trip down memory lane for me.
I honeymooned in the Lake District over 60 years ago. We pitched tent on a campsite in Borrowdale and had a wonderful holiday, walking, climbing and even swimming in the very cold lake. Unfortunately our marriage didn’t last but my memories of the beautiful scenery remain. I have visited several times since but I have never revisited Borrowdale and would love to see it again, but to have dinner in the hotel rather than in a tent!
Definitely the scenery, I hear the lakes calling!!
It has always been on my bucket list to visit. Such a beautiful location. It is my 60th Birthday this Year and to win and celebrate there would be awesome.
Absolutely beautiful scenery, the steamer trip would be wonderful, topped off with the stay,
What a fantastic break.
Far too long since we visited the Lake District. Must go again soon. We live in a beautiful country and now I can’t get affordable travel insurance to go abroad after being diagnosed with cancer. Good job we have some beautiful memories of past adventures.
To enjoy the serenity and lush greenness
One of my favourite parts of the UK – have visited many times over the years and never tire of it. So very beautiful!
Would love to revisit the beautiful Lake District and go back to the Beech Hill, where we spent our honeymoon over 40 years ago!
The choice of challenging and not so challenging walks. The stunning scenery makes the effort so worthwhile
The Lake District is such a wonderful place to visit. It is full of beauty and peace with so many opportunities to spend one’s time. Walking the hills, being on the water or just sitting looking at the wonderful views – there is something for everyone. I can’t wait to get back there.
It has everything- walks, culture, crafts, shopping, sailing and much more. It’s only a few hours away.
What’s not to love🥰
We would love to spend a relaxing break, definitely in need of a spa break, and the opportunity to reconnect with our cousins who live in the lakes
For me, I would value the beauty and tranquility of this break. I have never been but I only hear great things!

I went back about 20 years ago with a friend…it’s so scenic…we went to Wordsworths cottage and it reminded me of poetry at school…in a good way
The British lakes always bring you home.
I live to travel around the world, but the British lakes bring a special magic x
Only visited in the winter.
Would be nice trip in summer and a totally different experience. Love the stunning countryside and the quaint little villages with antique shops and lovely cafes…
I’m a keen hill walker. The Lake District is perfect for this.
Wonderfully beautiful especially if we can avoid all the crowds at the height of the season.
Just to wander in the beautiful scenery & find peace & quiet.
Escape the noise & bustle of modern life, heaven.
I haven’t been to The Lake District for years! It’s time I reconnected to this amazing part of the country.
Having grown up in the north west I have fond memories of holidays in the Lake District – it’s wildly beautiful and has the friendliest of people – you’ll always be made welcome!
Walking amongst the stunning scenery and enjoying seeing how the light and cloud shift across the mountain tops. Then settling down with a good meal or beer in a local pub. I wouldn‘t mind a trip to one of my two favourite eateries either – cheese and onion pie and chips in the market square Keswick or a delicious Turkish meal at Aspava in Cockermouth
Having spent our honeymoon in the lakes . Staying I might add in my parents touring caravan, it would be lovely to go back and stay in a hotel and re-visit some of the places we saw. After 45 years I dare say a lot has changed.
I’d love to take my paddleboard and visit as many of the lakes as possible to get a whole different view of the stunning landscapes
Beautiful countryside and amazing views. Super dog friendly and just the best opportunity to kick back, relax and enjoy! Would love to be part of such a fantastic prize.
The Lake District is such a beautiful, scenic part of the UK. I love visiting the area and feel sad when the time comes to leave. So many interesting places to visit using Windermere as a base, Coniston, Ambleside, Kendal are well worth seeing .
I participated in Trekfest years ago in the Peak District to raise money for the charity my employer supports. It was a 25km trek and was one of the most challenging activity I’ve ever done in my life.
It wasn’t a time to rest so while I was blessed with views while on trekking till this day I’ve been looking forward to the opportunity to visit that region again.
The Lake District on the other hand has fantastic landscapes and the views are endearing and I am looking forward to visiting for fun and relaxation.
Lake District – picture postcard hills and dales. Verdant and inviting. Always feel better following a visit.
Love the Lake District, always try to get there at least once a year
Dramatic scenery, lovely picturesque villages to visit and wander through then return to the homely hotel to complete the escape from your more mundane passage through life.

Fabulous scenery, great for walking, lovely country pubs and boat trips.
Love exploring everywhere on foot, such beautiful scenery and stunning lakes. It can be busy but there is always somewhere where you can find peace and tranquillity.
What I love best about the Lake District is the contrasts of scenery with mountains and lakes and the great food in great pubs.
The photography opportunities are amazing. I still have some great panaramic shots from 40 years ago! I hope to take some more.
I’d love the scenery as I’ve never been before, but have always wanted to go after seeing many beautiful pictures of the Lake District
I love hiring a motor boat and sailing round the lakes in the Lake District.
Have never been …. But other half has …. And now so excited …… after five years holiday less we are going up to the Lakes for a few days. Oh wow!
Dave and I would love to win this idyllic break on the banks of Lake Windermere, the scenery, the walking area – a beautiful relaxing break at Beech Hill Hotel and Spa would be the icing on the cake if we won this prize. x
The Lake District has beautiful landscapes.
From the scenery to everything Beatrix Potter and the wonderful gingerbread in Grasmere, love all parts of the Lake District! Go every chance I get when visiting the UK.
The scenery of the lake district is amazing, but also the warm welcome of the people. There is so much to do from stunning walks, relaxing boat trips, and visiting famous homes and castles. It is hard to pack it all in.
Would really appreciate a break in The Lake District to benefit from the stunning scenery and wonderful fresh air.
Hi. Last time I visited the Lake District-nearly 50 years ago- I slept on a building site in Kendal and spent all my holiday money on breakfast to warm up. How I would love to go again to make more- but different memories.
I’ve never been, so it’s all exciting for me
Would be good to visit again. Only been once thirty year ago. It was stunning then but would like to see more lakes
Haven’t been for years, would love to try some of the delicious pub food we sampled on our last visit; had the best lasagne I’ve ever tasted in a dusty little pub in Keswick, full of farmers and locals-we stuck out like a sore thumb, but they were friendly enough!!
Not tto far to travel to see this beautiful scenery and what looks like a beautiful hotel
Going on a boat trip on Lake Windermere.
The Lake District is not only a beautiful area it is also very calm and relaxing. The natural world is in abundance and as my wife and I enjoy walking there are only a few places in the U.K. that can match this wonderful place.
The lakes of course, the mountains, the pretty towns and villages, clean air, walks, views to gaze on, bird song, craft shops, William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter and my childhood memories of day trips to the Lakes. How I miss you. How I love you.
Love the small villages, the walks and the real ales
We are regular “Staycationers” but somehow I have never visited the Lake District despite visiting every other corner of the country. My wife watches TV programmes featuring the area, saying “we must visit there” but we never do, this Hotel Break seems to be the ideal “starter Break” for us to fall in love with the Lake District, Lake Windermere and the Beech Hill Hotel.
Amazing scenery, ever changing microclimate and wonderful sense of calm.
I would enjoy the sense of freedom as I stride across the hills and mountains. Gazing at the lakes in the distance and listening to the sky larks dancing in the sky x

I absolutely love visiting the Lake District and have visited many times over the years. I enjoy putting my walking boots on and going for a walk. I love the small towns which serve delicious foods, ice creams exploring independent shops. In summer I often camp and in the cooler months I stay in cosy b&b with log fires. There is so much to love about the Lake District and every time I visit I find somewhere new.

Simply walking in beautiful, ever-changing scenery.
Absolutely love the Lake District, so relaxing, beautiful and lovely scenery
I enjoy the wonderful scenery and walking opportunities that the Lake District offers, along with some good hotels to act as bases for trips out. I am more familiar with the northern lakes than the southern ones so if I were to win this prize that would redress the balance somewhat.
The peace & tranquility in a geological wonderland, with the draw from the combination of scenery & nature leaving you in awe.
The Lake District. Funny name that as, strictly speaking, there is only one body of water there that is actually called a lake. The others being generally known as waters. Still, never mind as it is a particularly lovely part of the world and what is not to like aout a voyage on a Lake (!) steamer. The hotel looks rather spiffing as well.
I would most enjoy everything to do with nature in a different part of the UK to where I live. Birdwatching, finding different plants, fungi, insects, and anything else. Of course, the scenery and peacefulness would be a huge contributing factor.
Fantastic prize , great location with awesome scenery
The Lake District is a special place, wonderful walking in the hills and a steamer trip on a lake.

I have a fantastic friend living in Windermere, so a catch up would be brilliant and as others have suggested the winding down into beautiful landscapes and pathways ♥️
I am 78 and “The Lakes” have always been part of my life—so many memories. My husband had a boat on Windermere and used to take our grandchildren skiing and my father fishing. I would like to go on the steamer again and scatter a few of my late husband’s ashes on his beloved lake. I would take my granddaughter because she has been such a comfort to me since he died (she was only 8 then). She is now nearly 12 and is very grown up and she would SO enjoy Beech Hill.
The Lake District is such a beautiful part of the country which I have always enjoyed to visit
Love the Lake District this prize sounds superb for a visit fingers crossed.

But I’ve always wanted to go and wander round to have a look!
The variety of the lakes, the fells, the woodlands and villages make it a great place to visit and walk.
We love the breath taking panoramic views over the lakes when we are walking around the Lake District
The Lake District is so unique with not only the beauty of the lakes but the surrounding mountains add up to fantastic scenic viewing.
The stunning scenery, lakeside walks and the added bonus of the trip on the lake all make the Lake District an attractive destination. I really welcome the chance of a few days away in this area, it would be superb and very beneficial.
Walking in the footsteps of Wordsworth is always a joy! It is a dramatic and stunning combination of fells and lakes which enhances massively your well- being and connection with nature.
I’ve visited Windermere and Keswick recently, the Cumbria fells provide a picture perfect backdrop to the lakes, it really is unique, it just encompasses a quiet and tranquil nature from a more distant time. It’s unspoilt nature makes it the ultimate restorative retreat. Would love to sample these delights once again.

Love the Lake District, so much variety, up hills and down dales. I have also done the Lake District Challenge for charity, walking all around Windemere for 2 days, 26 miles each day.
Wordsworth country always an allure!
There is so much variety in the Lake District. You can have peace and quiet, or activity , the buzz of attractive towns, excellent hotels and many restaurants.
Beauty, tranquility when you need it or people if you need them!
One of our outstanding areas in the UK 🇬🇧
I have never been to the Lake District but would love to go there.
It doesn’t matter how you get here by train to Windermere or in the car, as you roll down that hill and into Bowness the stress suddenly leaves you body like an evil spirit and magic happens, it can be raining or just dull but your elated because you’re here, you settle in at your accommodation in the knowledge that you’re in good hands, a warm welcome, hearty grub and a tincture or two will see you off too bed with a smile on your face. Tomorrow’s another day a Lake Cruise, a trip up to Keswick or a visit to the new boat museum or just more you time, the point is once you’re here you can forget about anything else and simply sit back and enjoy.
I remember a trip to the Lake District as a child. Would love to visit again
It’s years since I last visited the Lake District and then it was only a short trip with a baby in tow so we didn’t see very much. I keep meaning to go – for the natural beauty (obviously), sketching opportunities, the heritage and to experience the fine dining restaurants that seem to have sprung up in the area.
We’d most love to go walking and see the sights and views you can only reach on foot. The Lake District is such a stunning place.
I love the Lake District. As a young adult, I made good use of Wainwright’s guides to explore the hills.
As a parent, I introduced our children to them too. And now, as a grandparent, I’m enjoying rediscovering the joy of exploring the landscape with our grandchildren. Never during the summer season though. Too many drivers cluttering up the roads! Autumn, Winter and Spring though, then it’s a joy!
It looks a serene location and the facilities hold everything needed for a magical few days. I would love the pure luxury of a trip like this to relax and be indulged from start to finish. The boat trip on the lake would just add the final touch.
Just a calming relaxing atmosphere
Musta calming, relaxing atmosphere
It’s a while since we have holidayed in the Lake District, or even been for a day trip. I think it’s easy to forget the treasures we have close to home. It would be a so lovely to sail across Windermere and absorb the scenery, stroll through the streets and end the day in a comfortable and welcoming hotel.
Would love to win this prize, I’ve never been to The Lake District!!
I love the Lake District, we usually visit at least once a year. It was the first weekend away that I had with my husband before we were married, and we like to celebrate our Anniversary with a trip to Bowness and a meal in one of the lovely restaurants

Last time I went to the Lake District I got food poisoning at the beginning of the week. My memories of Windermere are not good and it would be lovely to replace them with happier ones.

What an opportunity to revisit this place with my husband who lost his son 16 years ago . This was a place they both loved so much and where his son was so very happy in his short life.

Pure air, clear water, dramatic views and a sky that stretches to infinity. Smiley laid back welcoming people and the amazing food they produce. Sleep the sleep of dark skies, full stomach and a total sense of wellbeing. Love it, love it, love it….x

I always associate the Lake District with space and serenity, despite the 1000’s of visitors each year. There is always somewhere to find a moment of peace and tranquility, be it on the beautiful lakes or in the surrounding forests and mountains. Heavenly 😍

Grasmere is my favourite place in the lakes
fabulous scenery great food friendly people super boat rides
Many years since I visited the Lake District. I remember it well as we ended up at Carlisle hospital as our 2 year old had a broken leg. Dad was carrying her to feed some horses, he tripped and her leg got broken. The hospital said keep her off her feet-as if!! Well she wore out the first plaster cast and had to have it replaced. Still all well 48 years later
Love the Lake district every trip is a new adventure
The variety of things to see and do make this wonderfully picturesque and welcoming place to spend some quality time. Fresh air and nature are the best medicine for mental and physical health.

A prize that’s truly grand
Lake District is a fantastic place. Would be just the ideal break from caring for Mum with dementia.
Entered – we love visiting the Lake District 🤞🤞
St Mary’s Pleasance garden, Haddington
Beautifully restored 17th century walled garden with an abundance of lavender and roses plus a laburnum allee and orchard. A hidden gem! Also near Haddington is Amisfield walled garden, huge herbaceous borders and well designed areas such as the sensory garden. Highly recommend both!
Peace & relaxation!
Love the Lake District, so much to see and do. We have visited many times over the years, staying in guest houses, hotels and taking our caravan.
Never been but I would love to visit, this is on my bucket list

Not only the mountains but walking around the Lakes and tarns provide such wonderful opportunities to enjoy being outdoors, listening to the sounds of nature, drinking in the glorious scenery, even in the rain, but obviously more enjoyable if the weather stays calm and hopefully sunny. I love walking, you can take so much in when nature is all around you. Calming for the my d and the soul.
