Recently stayed for two nights at the Marriott – Sunday until Tuesday. Obviously found it busier on the Sunday as it was a weekend during the school Easter holidays.
Had a very nice room, on the second floor, overlooking the front of the hotel but not bothered by any traffic noise at night. The room had a small separate lounge area. Also good to find ample storage space for clothes etc., with proper wardrobes and drawers unlike the few open hanging spaces and shelves which seem more the norm now!
We had breakfast both mornings, with ample selection of both hot and cold food. We also had dinner one evening in the restaurant, which provided an excellent 3 course menu for £25 a head. We ate in the bar area on the other evening, which admittedly was verybusy and food took a while to arrive.
We found all staff to be exceptionally helpful and friendly, especially on Reception and in the dining area.
The only slight drawback was that the hotel is situated about a 20 minute walk from the city – not a great distance but seemed so after a whole day's sightseeing! However there is a local bus which runs every 10 minutes or so from just across the road into the town.
