I remember quite clearly being taken here as a small child…the life-like Victorian streets made a huge impact on me. Fifty years later I found myself in a time warp as I looked into the atmospheric area again…not only shops and goods, cobblestones and cocoa, but also the sounds of horses, cats, dogs and shouts of people…the dim flicker of candlelight behind dreary curtains…damp leather smells…and costumes characters. With little imagination, I felt I was there. Add that to the cells in the prison where you “met” Duck Turpin before he was taken to be hanged…literally spine chilling! A must-do museum.
