Many tourists coming to Windsor visit the Castle with everything it has to offer. The State Apartments, scene of the “annus horribilis’ 1992 great fire, so lovingly restored; St Georges Chapel where royal weddings have taken place & kings & queens are laid to rest, including our late Queen Elizabeth; Queen Mary’s doll’s house; the ‘changing of the guard’ with ceremonial band marching through the town’s High St; the Long Walk, scene of recent royal walk-abouts & celebrations: and so many more.
Walk the cobbled streets, see Nell Quin’s house with reportedly a secret tunnel to the Castle, the Town Hall where Charles & Camilla were married, take a boat trip on the River Thames; walk cross the bridge into Eton & it’s historic College.
Visit Runnymede along the river, see where the Magna Carta was signed, John F Kennedy memorial & other interesting things of note, including the Air Force Memorial atop the hill with wonderful views.
The Theatre Royal offers back stage tours, learn how the scenery is made, climb to the top high above the stage, maybe see the costumes being made etc.
So much to see in my home town!
