Reasons for trip

As it was our wedding anniversary and we fancied a trip out we went up towards Edinburgh on the very scenic A701 to Whitmuir Organics. This is quite near to the small hamlet of LaMancha and is well worth the drive. As well as an excellent cafe there is a lovely art gallery, Dancing Light , and a fabulous organic shop full of veg, chocolate, savouries, bread and lots of other goodies, all totally organic, I even managed to get some delicious organic tawny port (my favourite tipple).

The cafe is delightful as it is very light and set amongst waving wildflower meadows. The food is about 50% vegetarian and all organic and freshly made. My other half had a very adventurous salad and I had a delicious courgette and mushroom melt. The puddings were fantastic – amazing rice pudding with nectarine and a fabulous fruity bread and butter pudding.

After stocking up at the shop we went for a walk to get rid of the calories and discovered a new garden shop – we could not resist a lovely cornus tree which just fitted in our car – no idea where we are going to put it!
