My husband and I recently visited this beautifully located hotel overlooking the sea at Woolacombe. The setting is lovely, but as a result the hotel is very expensive. We booked it as a special treat to ourselves, and whilst we had a lovely break, we felt that the hotel was very overpriced. We paid £320 per night for dinner, bed and breakfast for two people in a classic sea view room. On arriving in the room, we were disappointed as we have had much nicer rooms in less expensive hotels. There was nothing particularly wrong with the room, but it was very ordinary for the price. The carpet was stained and the bathroom small and old fashioned with just a shower curtain. The breakfast was very good, and whilst the dinner in the Pavilion restaurant was good, it was also somewhat “style over substance”. The restaurant is lovely though, with all tables having a wonderful view, though the menu is repeated after three days. The terrace and gardens are lovely places in which to relax, and the staff are very pleasant. Whilst the setting is lovely, you pay a high price for it!
