I have been travelling up the M6 towards the north on and off for many years and always note the sign to Warwick Castle. This time I was with my son and his girlfriend and we decided to stop off en route this time.
We arrived around midday and the weather was alternate showers and sunny. We paid the entrance fee (mine was cheaper and they had buy one get one free tickets). We wouldn't have minded paying full price but were disappointed that on top of a steep entrance fee e.g. the ticket for the dungeons were almost £10 more. We couldn't help but think of how much a family visit with children would be. Far too much!
We loved the interior of the castle, climbed the tower and managed to watch a falconry display between showers. We enjoyed our visit but to make the most of it, the weather really needs to be fine or you need to hold an annual pass. There was just enough for an afternoon but that was all. It would probably have been different if we'd had small children with us and enough sun for a picnic.
At least we can say we've been now!
