We arrived in plenty of time to catch the bus up to the house and have a coffee before our timed visit to see the christmas decorated rooms. They were wonderful. We then spent a long time looking at all the christmas stalls in the garden. In a way it was a shame we had lunch booked because the raclette looked wonderful. (We may go back for another visit just to partake in the different types of food!)
Lunch was booked for 2pm in the old kitchens. For the price the food was superb and the staff were brilliant. The atmosphere was suitably christmassy and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
At 4pm the light show began across the house. To be honest this was a bit disappointing. I thought the colours through the trees was better and more evocative.
We did not then have time to see the floodlit statues in the garden as we were flagging by this time. Another reason to go back!
We did not have children with us. But they were fully engaged in the house collecting stickers and the staff were all wonderful with them.
The new bus system from the car park was excellent, reminiscent of Stonehenge, so we had time to go back to the car with our purchases
before lunch.
