We travelled here with our family and friends in October 2016 for our daughters wedding. As far as I am aware direct flights from the U.K. are only available from Stansted which meant an overnight stay in an airport hotel for us. Flights to Llubjana airport are about two hours with a taxi journey of about 40 mins to the hotel in Lake Bled.
Villa Istra is a stunning boutique hotel on the banks of the lake. We were welcomed with schnapps before being taken up the marble staircase to our rooms which were all beautifully furnished. The views were breathtaking and changed constantly as mists rose and fell between the lake and its backdrop of mountains and autumn colours. Our hosts were wonderful and provided a hearty and healthy breakfast each morning. On the morning of the wedding my daughter, husband and a few friends braved the frigid waters of the lake for an early morning swim. We have so many joyful memories and will return in the not too distant future.
