We have just returned from a fantastic week at Villa Amarilla. Having never visited Northern Cyprus we were not sure what to expect. The lack of reviews was also slightly off putting, but we took the plunge and booked a week for our family. We are a group of 9 made up of me and my wife, my step son and his fiancé, my two sons and my step daughter and her partner plus our granddaughter aged 22 months.
Booking was very straight forward and the owner Rüdiger was very helpful during the booking and confirmation process.
We flew into Larnaca airport and picked up a transfer that Rüdiger had arranged (extra cost) even with the border crossing this only took just over 1 hour.
When we arrived at the villa we were greeted by Rüdiger who is very laid back and welcoming.
Everyone’s first impression was wow. The villa is stunning and well laid out. For me the outside pool area was my favourite place. Good size pool with plenty of beds. Excellent bar and seating area with a small bbq plus the jacuzzi area.
The house is laid out over 3 floors. The ground floor has 2 self contained apartments with 3 beds, bathroom and kitchen / living area in each apartment. The first floor is accessed by a wonderful external curved marble staircase. Outside the front door is a massive breakfast / dining table plus a small sun terrace. Inside on the ground floor there is a games room with pool table and tv, plus a double bedroom. There is a very large well equipped kitchen area. Gym, wc and laundry room with additional shower.
The 2nd floor has 3 large bedrooms all with balconies and 1 shared bathroom, plus the main bedroom with shower room plus sauna. Again this has a terrace overlooking the pool with sea view.
We were certainly not disappointed inside the villa either. We by no way filled up this massive place but it was great we all had our own space. Our daughter and family had one of the ground floor self contained apartments and my two sons (both mid 20’s) had the other ground floor apartment. Our son and fiancée had one of the large 2nd floor rooms and we had the main suite.
It didn’t take long to settle in as the place really does feel like home.
As it had been quite a long day we ventured the 100 yards down the road to the Blue Door restaurant. We were greeted by warm and friendly staff the restaurant is run by a lovely English lady and the staff are a mix of English and Cypriot. We used this place on quite a few occasions, breakfast, evening meals, after beach drinks, and had good friendly service every time. Plus very reasonable prices. Whilst we were there they had a very well attended quiz night and music night.
The local supermarket is also at the end of the drive which is well stocked and again very reasonably priced. They do a good selection of bbq food which was great for a relaxed evening by the pool.
We would recommend the beach at Denizkizi. It is 15 TL per person per day for the beach and sunbed. But well worth it as the beach and sea is very clean plus plenty of water sports, cafes, bar and a brilliant fish restaurant overlooking the beach.
We also went on a great boat trip from Girne. We went out in a private boat with snorkelling and lunch included, what a great day this was. There are also some great bars and restaurants here around the stunning old harbour.
Our overall view is this was a fantastic villa in a great location. The owner Rüdiger was very helpful and informative about the villa and the local area. He takes great care of his villa and guests, he also comes early everyday to clean the pool.
We will certainly recommend this place to friends and family and I am sure we will return again.
