My friend and I sailed on Viking Star over Christmas 2016/17. The ship’s style is modern and comfortable. It is small in size, so easy to get around. But as one travels through the ship the temperatures change dramatically. One area you need a woolly jumper only to be followed by a tea shirt. The air conditioning in most cabins cannot be set by oneself whether you like it warm or cooler. In the end we insisted that it be turned off and we left the door open to the balcony for fresh air. Breakfast and lunch was varied but Dinner left a lot to be desired. The dishes sounded wonderfully exotic but most of the time the description most certainly out did the actual food. The entertainment was less than professional and rather infrequent. The ports of call were good as were the included tours. Having cruised for many years and having been in the travel business I could not recommend this particular cruise line to travelers who are experienced sailors.
