Reasons for trip

On the A84 to the west of Callander, this feel in the middle of nowhere. It is geared at the tourists with two very fed up looking highland cows in the field providing a photo opportunity.

It is part of the Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group and has the typical range of clothing found in all its outlets at the usual discount prices. It does have a good selection of shortbread at competitive prices.

The coffee shop at the back of the shop serves breakfasts until 11.30. It also serves soup and sandwiches at lunchtimes as well as afternoon teas. There was a limited selection of sandwiches and paninis on display and the cake selection looked decidedly uninspiring. Service can be quite slow if a coach tour arrives.

There are some picnic tables at the front along what is quite a busy road.

The toilets are outside at the back with a portacabin providing extra ladies toilets. Despite the brightly painted doors, they are heavily used and show it.

Callander with all its shops and tea rooms is probably a much better place to break journey.
