We were attracted to the hotel due to the cost of a Travel Zoo offer of £99 for 2 nights bed and breakfast. The hotel sits on the top of a hill overlooking the whole bay of St Ives. It is a huge hotel and has many bedrooms and a brasserie, and a restaurant. In addition it has a leisure area with an indoor and outdoor pool, plus a small gym area. Our room was on the first floor and was of a good size, with ample storage space and a good sized bathroom with lots of hot water. We did not opt for a sea view as this was extra and we do not want to sit in our room looking out to sea, we would rather be out there walking. The hotel grounds are steep and there is a pathway down to the town from there. It is a walk for the able bodied on the way back. Going down takes you to the centre of town in about 20 minutes, coming back it is nearer to 30. However it is a good cardiovascular workout and you feel virtuous when you do get back. We did the walk 4 times (up and down) in the two days we were there. We had dinner in the hotel on the first night, which was nice and we had a 20% discount coupon as part of our deal. The meal was good and was 3 courses for about £22 minus the discount. Breakfast was fairly normal with some fresh fruit as a welcome extra. All in all it was a nice break and St Ives is very nice to explore with some lovely little corners. The light there is magical.
