Listed as one of the ‘must do’ activities in Lisbon, the lovely vintage trams ply their way around the narrow cobbled streets of the city. Tram 28 is particularly famous as it apparently passes all the main highlights on its winding route. However, the tiny carriages cram 58 people(at least) inside and leave no doubt as to how close up and personal it is possible to be with complete strangers! So, unless you enjoy the scent of personal odours and love to share eye contact with another person pressed into your face at close quarters then simply avoid and enjoy seeing the trams from the pavement. If this isn’t enough to dampen your enthusiasm the whole journey is spent avoiding being hurled into the arms of anyone brave enough to catch you as the vehicle turns corners so sharply it feels like a ride on space mountain….might be cheaper though!
