I decided that I would like to visit this part of Scotland for a change, and having taken a flight to Inverness with my sister who is also over 50, we then took the train to Plockton. The ride was absolutely stunning! Views of the sea and views of the beautiful lochs and mountains, was a totally refreshing experience, especially as I am used to much warmer climates myself. The town of Plockton has a micro-climate, hence various palm trees, and is very quaint, with some good restaurants, and the B and B, Tigh Nan Saor where we stayed was wonderful. Excellent rooms, excellent breakfasts, and a very charming host and hostess. In the short time that we stayed we managed to go to the Kyle of Lochalsh, over to the stunning Isle of Skye on a small tourist coach, plus a boat ( come sub-marine ) trip out to see the seals, another boat trip out from Plockton, plenty of walks and visit of Inverness before our flight back to London. I was amazed at what a beautiful country we really have, and shall consider adventuring more in the U.K.
