As others have said, this hotel is all about the view – and what a fantastic view with the hotel perched high above Monument Valley with all the rooms facing that fantastic view. However, it is not all about the view as we found the hotel to be very good in itself with really comfortable spacious bedrooms each with their own balcony and there is a large lounge with big comfy sofas facing the view. The hotel is beautifully decorated with paintings, ornaments and pictures in western style. WiFi was available in the lounge and restaurant. Guests congregated on the terraces to take photographs, especially as the sun set which was a majestic sight. The chairs on these terraces and on the balconies were all metal which became very hot to sit on during the day which was a shame. After dark a different movie that was filmed in Monument Valley was shown each night on the outside wall of the hotel although there were never that many people watching it! Various trips down into the valley were on offer by a variety of different guides but these were not arranged by the hotel. There were also a couple of walking trails and we did one of these although it was very hot for hiking!
There is no alcohol allowed in the hotel so our glass of wine on the balcony which we had enjoyed in other hotels became a glass of orange while we were at The View! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we feel that the only thing that let the hotel down was the restaurant. We didn't particularly enjoy the menu and the food was not that hot when it arrived but the staff who served were so friendly and, of course, there is that view again from the restaurant!
We loved staying at The View especially sitting on the balcony and taking in that fabulous view and we feel so very fortunate to have stayed there.
