The Outer Banks of the USA (in North Carolina) offer a relaxing contrast to the usual cities and resorts – with miles of sand dunes along the Atlantic coast. There are some busy areas with groups of hotels, but going north from the connecting bridge is the quiet little town of Duck and even quieter a few miles north is the Sanderling – a timber constructed hotel right on the beach which provides a perfect getaway to relax during a tour of the Eastern US. It is a quality hotel with spacious rooms, excellent restaurant and a spa. There are two nearby golf courses and a few miles south is the historic site of the Wright Brothers first powered flight.
