My sister and I went to the Royal Horseguards Hotel for a special treat recently to have a 3 course dinner. Wow! From the moment of entering the hotel, our experience was wondrous. The hotel interior is beautiful, the fixtures and furniture superb. The ambiance is relaxing and warm, the staff who greeted us were so friendly and gracious. We had a lovely gin and tonic on the gorgeous terrace which was adorned with flowers, shrubs and many luscious plants. Comfortable seating and a nice soft pastel coloured light blanket available if we felt chilly! A little silver dish came with a variety of nuts. No one rushed us and we perused the menu and about 30 minutes later we went through to the restaurant – lovely white spotless tablecloths. silver tableware and nice large glass bottle of water. We ordered our starters; bavarois (cashel blue cheese and broccoli creamy mousse) little light dumpling and fig jus. It was delicious. The waiter helped us choose a good red wine and we had sirloin steak, caramelized shallots, green beans, carrots, buttered new potatoes and a red wine jus. Scrumptious and beautifully cooked. Amazing flavour of the steak. We then enjoyed caramelized pineapple tarte tatin with coconut icecream, cheese and biscuits and coffee. The whole experience was absolutely superb. The waiter and waitress were jovial but very efficient and told us they loved their job, which showed! It all contributed to a very happy and very satisfying meal. We cant wait to return for another special treat to this very stylish and wonderful hotel.
