Located a few miles from Bath in Somerset The Pig near Bath is a high end restaurant with rooms. The food is all sourced if possible from within a 25 mile radius and many of the ingredients are grown or sourced on site.( e.g. they have their own hens) There are extensive gardens at the back of this delightful property which is set in rolling hills The food is extremely good and service top rate. and I suppose because you are basically having totally different dining experience it is not cheap but it is ideal for a special occasion be in birthday or an anniversary. It is a welcoming establishment and the young staff quickly make you feel at home. The rooms ,if you decide to stay for the night are very comfortable and the one I had featured a free standing bath. The toiletries come from Mells near Frome and the bed was extremely comfortable. There is also free Wi-Fi and DVD library for wet afternoons.Breakfast was quite superb with plenty of locally sourced products .If you wish you can supplement it with a hot dish but I have to say the choice was so good that anything extra would have been just too much.
The restaurant is easily accessible and the night I went , a Wednesday, it was full. Customers from early twenties to silver surfers appeared to be having a great time and were being very well looked after. Wines are not cheap but you can buy it by the glass. They also provide snacks and lighter meals at lunch time,
There are a number of ‘pigs’ around the country in the New Forest and Studland on the Dorset coast. Wonderful if you fell like celebrating and you are wiling to dig a bit deeper into your pocket.
