Relaxation

Nestling in The Tatt Valley six miles from Fakenham, North Norfolk lie four cottages. Converted from old farm buildings to a very high standard .We arrived early October and entered a snug and warm cottage with a few surprises waiting. There is a full size freezer/fridge/stove and everything you need to self cater. Our cottage is unsuitable for a disabled person but the adjacent cottage 'The Old Mangers' has been fully converted for wheelchair users with wide doorways and ramped access. The shower might be problematic though as the brochure describes an over bath shower so check before booking. Seems very peculiar to provide access for wheelchairs and not a wet room. Maybe they think you won't need to shower? I do get cross that owners do not consult when converting for disabled access. I see no need for baths in holiday cottages, wet rooms provide access for all. I am not disabled but as we get older we all have issues with joints and 'getting your leg over' the bath becomes problematic. Well this was never meant to be a rant so I will move on! What's with the ABC you might ask? That would be Avocets at nearby Pensthorpe, a joy of a place with bird hides, wildlife walks. If you take younger ones they will love Wildrootz, a children's adventure playground at the entrance to the centre. Even if you do not have children we picnicked in a shelter tent placed there in the summer to avoid the hot sun. Mums sat there reading while their charges played safely nearby to busy to think about eating. If you have a BBC Gardeners World card (free in spring edition) you can get in two for one. This is an all day adventure and there is plenty of space for all to enjoy. Now to B, beautiful beaches such as Holkham and Brancaster. C is for the outstanding cliffs in Sunny Hunny (Hunstanton) fourteen miles away and make sure you walk along the beach to experience them. There is much more to do in North Norfolk, check out Trip Advisor. I can guarantee that once you visit you will return time and time again. Did I say we live in South Norfolk! We booked The Old Forge via our previous employer at a discounted rate but you can find further details on www.norfolkcottages.co.uk.
