We were in London for the Silver Travel Awards at Covent Garden on 22nd June (which was great – see Forum) so stayed an extra night. Of course, everyone has to see The Mousetrap at some time, and apparently they have over 12,000 performances to their credit so we thought it was time to boost the numbers.
I have seen it before, quite a few years ago, but it was new to my husband. I am glad I went along again as this production was much more light-hearted, funny, fast-moving than I remembered it and definitely not as old-fashioned “of its time” as I expected. The actors were each ideally suited to their role, especially the “daft as a brush” young man, one of the guests who arrived at the newly-opened Monkswell Manor Guesthouse. I won’t give away the plot, naturally, as we are now officially members of the world-wide audience sworn to secrecy! (£36 each for upper circle).
