I recently stayed overnight at this lovely hotel/pub in London, prior to a wedding. Not only where the staff extremely helpful and friendly, the decoration of the rooms is beyond that of usual public house accommodation. It has been very well thought out, with its rooms designed in beautiful classic fashion, that harks back to the 1930’s & 40’s when style was the norm. There is no noise from the public house below, the rooms are very well lit, each room has a different layout and colour scheme, but is still in keeping with the overall design. The food choice is lovely and varied.
The close proximity to Herne Hill station, whilst in the leafy suburb of Dulwich, means that routes into central London offer a varied quick choice , with trains every 5-10 minutes to Victoria, and buses to some of the major shopping and theatre areas. Brockwell Park is a ‘stones throw’ away with its open-air lido and lovely walks – the occasional fair will set-up here usually during the school holidays, and the annual Farm show happens once a year too. The Dulwich Picture Gallery is about a 15 minute walk, with regular special exhibitions as well as its permanent collection.
The Half Moon prices are fair for the convenience of its location, but its style alone more that justifies these. I would highly recommend this as a lovely place to stay for anyone visiting London, but not wanting to stay in the hustle and bustle of the expensive centre of this wonderful City.
