The Cottage, Petrolia is a new café that has opened in Petrolia, Ontario. There are few spots for coffee in this little “Victorian oil town”:https://www.silvertraveladvisor.com/review?id=153448 and this is a welcome addition. The owners run the local theatre company, The Victoria Playhouse.
The interior provides a homey feel as it is decorated as if it were a wood cottage in lake country in Northern Ontario with outdoor sporting equipment on the walls. Along with specialty coffees they serve soups, sandwiches, quiche, chocolates and baked goods. My aunt and I stopped in one day last summer to check it out. We weren’t terribly hungry so the cup of soup and a cheese scone along with a latte were sufficient and hit the spot. Some of the tables are a little small if you’re having lunch rather than a coffee and cake so you may want to try and snag one of the larger tables.
They were running a take-out business after the pandemic hit but have recently decided to close until things get back to normal to ensure the safety of staff and patrons.
