My wife and I used this Inn as our base to see the start of the Tour de France in Harrogate and York, and were delighted with the cleanliness of our accommodation, the welcome we received and the standard of food.
We were initially disappointed that we could not find anywhere suitable closer to the city, as hotel rooms had been snapped up prior to our booking, but the Blackwell Ox Inn was more than an adequate hostelry for our purpose.
On our arrival we were greeted by a young man wrapped in a towel, who we had obviously dragged from the shower to deal with our check-in. At this point we were informed that the chief had been hospitalised due to an accident earlier that day and that there would be a restrictive menu that evening (which gave us cause for concern); however we should not have been worried as the meal we were served could have easily come from any 5 star rated restaurant.
The breakfast menu was as expected, with the meat items purchased locally and freshly prepared to a high standard for each guest.
Vive le Tour, Vive le York & Vive le Blackwell Ox Inn.
