There is more than one Ingleton in these parts, although the local M.P. wasn’t aware of it until recently.
She was asked to open an event in this Ingleton Village which lies on the road between Darlington and Barnard Castle, but proceeded to relate facts about Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales in her opening speech instead.
I understand that there was a fair amount of chuckling in the small crowd that turned up to listen to her. Can you imagine her embarrassment?
Maybe she dropped into the Black Horse to drown her sorrows!
Four of us dropped in for an early evening meal recently. It has a simple menu, with about half a dozen starters, a choice of ten main meals and half a dozen sweets.
There were no surprises on the list. My mate and me had a generous portion of Pate as a starter, while our ladies sipped their white wine.
Cod & Chips was chosen by two of us, another went for the Beef & Ale Pie and I went for the Black Horse Burger & Chips.
Nothing posh here, just fairly ordinary pub fayre at a fair price. Or it should have been!
All the starters and sweets were a fiver and the main courses a tenner. All our drinks were added to the final bill and we went away happy.
When we got home I found that we had been charged for 4 starters instead of 2.
Needless to say I will be dropping in again soon to retrieve my tenner!
