Whatever the reason for your visit to Chester, Storyhouse has something to offer. It is a brand new venue, housed in an old Art Deco cinema. The beauty of the original building has been preserved and enhanced by the additions. There is a wonderful theatre where various shows and plays are performed; (the well known Grosvenor Park open air theatre is part of Storyhouse). There is a cinema complete with original sweetie shop, and Chester’s relocated library, where children can browse or listen to a tale read by a storyteller in the amazing magical wooden tale weaver’s chair. There are nooks for adults sit and peruse. If you just want a bite to eat or a drink there is an interesting and enticing bar at the top of the building, or an informal bistro type restaurant/ coffee bar on the ground floor with good food where you can also enjoy a drink and read the papers whilst children enjoy the technology on offer. It is a fascinating place for all ages, a vibrant community resource. It is very accessible whatever your age and ability. Located right in the middle of Chester by the cathedral, shops and a large car park as well as excellent hotels ( ours the Coach House…fab but that’s another review!) was 2 minutes away . Places like this don’t come along very often….visit and enjoy you won’t regret it.
