When I tell you this was our fourth trip to Sofitel Taba Heights, it won't be any surprise to find that we love it there! Taba Heights is in the middle of nowhere, on the Sinai Peninsula on the Gulf of Aqaba and is truly an oasis in the desert. The airport is an old military airbase but is more than adequate to meet the influx of people that discover the delights of Taba. It is a purpose built resort and there is no local town as such so if you go there expecting to find a bustling shopping tourist attraction, you will be disappointed. However, that is all that will disappoint you. Bordering Israel, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, it is a great spot for exploring, and I can highly recommend the trip to Petra.
There are several hotels situated along the beachfront and surrounding the golf course at Taba Heights, but my favourite has to be Sofitel Taba Heights. It is the friendliest, happiest place to be whilst relaxing in the beautiful grounds and using the five star facilities. All the staff, without exception, go out of their way to ensure you are enjoying your holiday and the manager himself comes to meet everyone and enquire what can be done to make your stay better. An example of this is that there are now kettles and tea/coffee making equipment in all rooms (after hearing from guests in the weekly get together meetings that this is what guests like!).
The food is always excellent with plenty of variety, and if there should be something you want and can't find, the chefs are more than happy to accommodate you. I noticed this time that they even ensure a fresh supply of gluten free bread for guests amongst the many other breads on offer in the buffet. There are plenty of sunbeds both around the pools and on the beach itself and the hotel provides fresh towels for pool/beach use. There is a dive centre nearby but even for the amateur snorkeller there are lots of different varieties of fish to be found only waist deep from the beach.
The entertainment is one area that could be improved and is not a major draw but there are plenty of "animation" activities if that is what you want, but equally, plenty of peace and quiet for those who don't. There is a gym, beauty salon, and spa.
The rooms are of an excellent standard and are kept spotlessly clean by the staff, as are all areas of the hotel. There is a fridge in each room and bottled water is replenished every day. The safe in each room is provided free of charge and there are flat screen TV's in each room with several English channels.
All in all if you want a completely relaxing holiday with sun, sea and sand, in a hotel that provides you with everything you could wish for and more, Sofitel Taba Heights is the destination for you!
